Two poems.<br>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-pink-color has-text-color has-small-font-size\">The Softest Sheets I\u2019ve Ever Touched Were<br>At A Stranger\u2019s House In Dearborn Heights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">You scoffed when I said<br>I forgot to brush my teeth<br>that night<br>and I felt shame and ran<br>my tongue over my smooth<br>little bones<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The bottoms of my feet<br>were a hot scream<br>but I still wore those<br>tall black shoes<br>you liked because they made<br>my legs look long<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">&#8220;Stop hunching over,&#8221; you<br>barked like a schoolmarm,<br>I your charge.<br>The comfort of your trophy<br>was low priority and I<br>didn\u2019t know any better then<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">I wept when you walked out but<br>now I\u2019m just embarrassed<br>you were ever even here<br><br>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-pink-color has-text-color has-small-font-size\">midnight song<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">you are a hard chill<br>outside on a dark morning,<br>all tatters and rips and<br>split at the seam.<br>i ran you under warm<br>water and you slipped<br>away from me down the drain<br>and out into the river<br>and i knew at once<br>what you were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">you are a sharp sermon<br>all bone and skin,<br>spooking children<br>with a leaden brow<br>and boiled teeth.<br>i swept you into<br>the underbrush with<br>my silver hand and<br>long braids all snarled<br>with burrs and branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">i sing to you now with<br>big bright eyes and<br>shaking shoulders and<br>the wild floats away<br>like a fast smoke out<br>in the slow blue winter air.<br>you fall quiet, soft.<br>sleep softer now.<br>i won\u2019t leave.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Also I think from now on all images will be from my personal Polaroid library.
